MICRONEEDLING- The combined SkinPen AND PRP EXPERIENCE

Results for Truly Healthy Skin

As we age and battle skin conditions, the natural architecture of our skin deteriorates by decreasing quantities of collagen and elastin, which leads to fine lines, wrinkles, large pores and uneven skin texture. The signs of aging can be worsened by exposure to UV rays or other skin damaging agents that can cause sunspots and other blemishes.

Collagen induction therapy, also known as microneedling, is a great way to address these signs of aging at the cellular level which can halt and reverse the signs of aging.

Microneedling comfortably creates thousands of micro-injuries in the skin to trigger the body’s natural wound healing process.  This results in skin remodeling, including the formation of collagen and elastin, the two proteins predominantly responsible for the structure of the skin.  The outcome is beautiful, youthful looking skin.

PLATELET-RICH PLASMA (PRP)

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a cutting-edge form of regenerative medicine that is becoming widely used for cosmetic therapy.

PRP uses your body’s own natural pharmacy to repair and restore damaged tissues. Plasma contains molecules and proteins that provide nutrients to the skin’s cells, so it’s a healthy, natural way to improve the effects of aging.

PRP is performed by drawing a small vial of blood from the patient.  The blood is then spun in a centrifuge to separate the growth factors, platelets, and stem cells from the rest of the blood.  Once this unique mixture is obtained, the enriched plasma is applied to the desired treatment areas.

What is PRP and how does it enhance microneedling?

Platelet-Rich Plasma, (PRP) comes from blood and functions to cultivate your body‘s natural growth factors. Although blood is mostly liquid (plasma), it contains small solid particles (red cells, white cells, and platelets). In addition to clotting blood, platelets have hundreds of proteins called growth factors which play an important role in healing injury. The highly concentrated platelets can be 5-10 times richer than what is typically found in blood. PRP has been used for years to treat sports-related injuries and has recently gained in popularity as a facial treatment to reduce wrinkles, remove blemishes and even diminish scars. By combining microneedling with PRP, we boost the body’s natural healing process and enhance the results of microneedling.

What are the benefits of combining microneedling with PRP?

  • Lessen the appearance of fine lines, or even moderate wrinkles
  • Reduce scarring
  • Even skin tone and reduce sun spots and blemishes on the skin
  • Reduce the appearance of spider veins and broken capillaries
  • Firm and improve skin texture.

The Microneedling and PRP Treatment

When you schedule an appointment at INDULGE, Christy Collins NP-C will first schedule a consultation to evaluate your skin to determine whether you’re a suitable candidate for this therapy, as well as any of our other service offerings. Sometimes we will recommend services that are different from what you thought you needed.

We will draw a small amount of blood and use a centrifuge to separate the PRP.

Christy will simply apply the PRP topically throughout the microneedling process to allow it to seep into the skin perforations. The entire procedure rarely takes even a full hour.

PRP works together with microneedling to help your skin generate new collagen. If you’re concerned about fine lines or uneven skin tone, contact us today to set up an appointment at INDULGE and see what a difference this treatment can make!
